Ceremony

I think I always assumed we would do the normal unity candle ceremony, and it is definitely what both Tyler and I prefer. Once we actually thought about the fact that we were getting married outside, we realized the typical unity candle set up would probably not work since any little breeze would blow out the candles.

We toyed with the idea of having a sand ceremony, but neither of us really got very excited about it. I think it would have been nice, and it would have been fun to keep the jar, but just not exactly what we wanted.

Then I saw another knottie who used floating candles in her indoor ceremony. I thought "Oh yea! That should be great for protecting the flame!" So I got all excited and went to Hobby Lobby to hunt for floating candles and glass gems. I set it up at my parent's house, even dyed the water and everything. Then I pulled out the fan to simulate the breeze annnnddd there goes the flame. I kept lowering the candle thinking it just needed more protection, but nope. It just kept getting blown out. After expressing my frustration to my dad, he just simply  pointed out that there was a reason hurricane vases are shaped the way they are. Duh.

Sooo now we're planning on using pillar candles and hurricane vases. The way I am envisioning it now is to have a larger candle in the middle inside the biggest hurricane vase. There will be two slightly smaller pillar candles inside slightly smaller hurricane vases on each side of the big one. Then there will be 2 taper candles on each side that will just be sitting in normal candle holders. The mothers (or maybe both moms and dads depending on when we do it) will go light the smaller pillar candles with a lighter. Then when it's time to actually light the big candle, Tyler and I will use the two smaller taper candles to transfer the flames from the small ones. I just hope we'll be able to do that without having the flame blow out, haha.

Here are my latest inspirations. The first one is what I am planning on doing (and take a look at her veil, woah). I'm sure we'll spice up the candles with some ribbon or something though.

Here are the pictures from my trial run with the floating candles. It would still be a really cute idea for indoor ceremonies.

Here is picture from my experiment. We were having fun dyeing the water. :o)

Here was my original floating candle inspiration from knottie January Bride's ceremony. The picture was taken by Life on Prints.

Ceremony Decorations

We will be keeping with the winter theme for the ceremony as well with the same colors and things like snowflakes and ornaments.

Here is a pic of the amazing aisle decorations that my mom came up with. They are hanging on an actual ceremony chair (we wanted to see if the chair would fall over). These will be hanging on the chairs along the aisle. We are planning on moving them to hang in the reception room after the ceremony too so we can get double use out of them.

The only problem is she thought there would only be 8 total, as opposed to 8 rows with two needed per side, so she only bought 10 of the underlying pine branch. She decided to make the poinsettia basket ones for the other rows.

Ceremony Wording

I'll try to update this once we get a chance to work on the ceremony layout/wording.
